About the Meghalaya Day Award
The Meghalaya Day Award was introduced in the year 1989. The Award is the highest civilian honor conferred by the Government of Meghalaya to recognize exceptional service and achievement upon deserving individuals of the State as recognition of their outstanding contribution in the following field of activities namely:
a. U Tirot Sing Award for Arts & Literature.
b. Pa Togan N Sangma Award for Social Services.
c. U Kiang Nangbah Award for Sports & Games.
The Award is announced every year on the occasion of Meghalaya Day, on 21st January and presented during the official celebration of the Republic Day on 26th January at the State Capital Shillong.
It carries a Citation, a Certificate and Cash Award of ₹ 2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lakh) each.

एक बार जब किसी व्यक्ति को पुरस्कार मिल जाता है, तो उसे दोबारा सम्मानित नहीं किया जाएगा और जिस व्यक्ति को अतीत में 4 (चार) या अधिक बार अस्वीकार किया गया है, वह दोबारा नामांकन नहीं भेज सकता है।
