About Our Department
The main functions of the Department are to deal with matter relating to Law and Order, Vigilance cases against Government servants, Preventive Detention Act and Rules, Foreigners Act and Rules, etc. The Department has notified the Meghalaya Victim Compensation Scheme, 2019 for the purpose of extending compensation to victim of sexual assault, the Scheme for rehabilitation of Surrendered Militant and the Scheme for grant of ex-gratia to armed forces personnel died while on duty during counter insurgency and law and order duty and implementation of ANVC Agreed Text for Settlement. The Department had constituted the State Level Grievances Committees to hear the various grievances of the public and to redress them. The Department has also constituted the Meghalaya Human Rights Commission as mandated by the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1995 and the Meghalaya Lokayukta as mandated by the Meghalaya Lokayukta Act, 2014. The Department is also dealing with key acts like the Meghalaya State Language Act 2005 and the Meghalaya Benami Transaction Prohibition Act 1980.
Home (Political) Department does not have any subordinate offices of its own. It is under the direct supervision of the Chief Secretary, which is assisted by Principal Secretary, Commissioner & Secretary, Joint Secretary, Deputy Secretary and Under Secretary.

हमारे विभाग के बारे में
विभाग के मुख्य कार्य कानून और व्यवस्था से संबंधित मामलों, सरकारी कर्मचारियों के विरुद्ध सतर्कता मामलों, निवारक निरोध अधिनियम और नियम, विदेशी अधिनियम और नियम आदि से निपटना है। विभाग ने यौन उत्पीड़न के पीड़ितों को मुआवजा प्रदान करने के उद्देश्य से मेघालय पीड़ित क्षतिपूर्ति योजना, 2019 अधिसूचित की है, समर्पित उग्रवादियों के पुनर्वास की योजना और काउंटर इंसर्जेंसी और कानून व्यवस्था की ड्यूटी के दौरान ड्यूटी पर मारे गए सशस्त्र बलों के कर्मियों को अनुग्रह राशि प्रदान करने की योजना और एएनवीसी समझौते के सहमति पाठ के कार्यान्वयन की योजना भी बनाई है। विभाग ने जनता की विभिन्न शिकायतों को सुनने और उनका निवारण करने के लिए राज्य स्तरीय शिकायत निवारण समितियों का गठन किया है। विभाग ने मानव अधिकार संरक्षण अधिनियम, 1995 के तहत मेघालय मानव अधिकार आयोग और मेघालय लोकायुक्त अधिनियम, 2014 के तहत मेघालय लोकायुक्त की स्थापना भी की है। विभाग मेघालय राज्य भाषा अधिनियम 2005 और मेघालय बेनामी लेनदेन निषेध अधिनियम 1980 जैसे प्रमुख अधिनियमों से संबंधित मामलों से भी निपटता है。
गृह (राजनीतिक) विभाग का अपना कोई अधीनस्थ कार्यालय नहीं है। यह सीधे मुख्य सचिव के अधीन है, जिन्हें प्रधान सचिव, आयुक्त और सचिव, संयुक्त सचिव, उप सचिव और अवर सचिव द्वारा सहायता प्रदान की जाती है।
